Molasses is a by-product of sugar production. The Königshofer molasses comes from sugar beets. Molasses contains 30-50% sugar, namely sucrose (a disaccharide from fructose + glucose). Molasses also contains all the minerals and trace elements that are extracted from refined sugar.
- The potassium and sodium content in molasses is relatively high: K approx. 35 g / kg, Na approx. 6 g / kg. (MEYER 1995) Molasses can be a high-quality energy source.
- The betaine content is approx. 3% and can be subject to fluctuations due to the raw materials used.
